Why do you need a Head Spa treatment?

A head spa is more than a luxurious wash — it's a dedicated treatment for the foundation of healthy hair and one of the most restorative wellness experiences available.

A Healthier Scalp
The scalp is skin, too. Like your face, it benefits from regular professional care — and a healthy scalp is the foundation of stronger, shinier, fuller-looking hair.

Deep, Targeted Cleansing
Daily shampooing can't reach what professional cleansing can. Head spa removes product buildup, excess oil, and impurities at the follicle level — restoring balance you'll feel and see.

Stress, Released
The scalp holds tension you don't realize you're carrying. Our extended scalp, neck, and shoulder massage activates your body's natural relaxation response, easing headaches, jaw tightness, and mental fatigue.

Visibly Better Hair
Clean follicles, improved circulation, and a balanced scalp environment lead to hair that looks fuller, feels lighter, and behaves better — often after a single session.

A True Pause
In a city that doesn't stop, head spa is one of the few experiences designed to slow you down. No screens, no noise — just an hour of being fully cared for.

Who is the Relaxing Head Spa best for?

The Relaxing Head Spa is designed for anyone who wants to slow down, reset, and care for the foundation of healthy hair. Whether you're booking it for yourself or as a gift, this is a wonderful choice.

Before & after

Dull to Glossy

Before: Dull, lifeless strands with visible dryness, flyaways, and a flat appearance. The hair lacked light reflection, smoothness, and the kind of healthy movement that signals well-cared-for strands.

After: A clean scalp and deeply nourished strands restored the hair's natural shine and smoothness. The mirror-like reflection comes from a healthy cuticle layer that lies flat — only possible when the scalp is clean and the hair is properly hydrated.

Before & After

Curly Hair Transformation

Before: Heavy product buildup and an unbalanced scalp left this client's curls weighed down, frizzy, and lacking definition. The natural curl pattern was hidden beneath dryness and residue, with strands clumping together and losing their shape.

After: With a properly cleansed scalp and deeply hydrated strands, the natural curl pattern returned with full definition, bounce, and shine. Each curl is now visible, separated, and full of movement.

Before & After

Buildup & Redness Cleared

Before: Flat, weighed-down hair with no movement at the roots — the result of accumulated buildup and an unbalanced scalp.

After: Visible lift, bounce, and natural body. Cleaner roots and lightweight hydration restore the hair's effortless movement.

  • Scalp Analysis

Your therapist begins with a scalp analysis using a high-definition microscope camera. Together, you'll see exactly what's happening beneath the surface — oil balance, hydration, follicle health, and any areas that need extra attention.

  • Water Circulation Ritual

Inspired by Korean head spa traditions, a warm, continuous flow of water cascades over the scalp — a sensation often described as a gentle "head waterfall." It's both deeply rinsing and deeply calming, and one of the most memorable parts of the experience.

  • Steam Treatment

Gentle warm steam is introduced to help the mask absorb more deeply, while your therapist begins a focused shoulder and upper-back massage to release tension built up from screens, commutes, and daily life.

  • Blow-Dry & Finish

We finish every session with a proper blow-dry so you leave looking polished, refreshed, and ready to continue your day. Your hair will feel cleaner, lighter, and noticeably more voluminous.

Q&A

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Relaxing Head Spa?

The Relaxing Head Spa is our 60-minute, intro-level head spa treatment — the perfect introduction to the experience and the ideal starting point for clients new to head spa. It combines deep scalp cleansing, a calming therapeutic treatment, and our signature scalp, neck, and shoulder massage in one deeply soothing session. Originating in Japan and refined across Asia, head spa is designed to address the scalp as the foundation of healthy hair, while delivering a level of relaxation and tension relief that goes far beyond a traditional facial or massage.

What's included in the 60-minute Relaxing Head Spa?

Every session begins with a scalp analysis using a microscope camera, so your therapist can see exactly what's happening beneath the surface — oil balance, buildup, and follicle health. From there, the treatment includes a warm cleanse, a thorough scalp cleansing phase, a calming and hydrating treatment tailored to your scalp's needs, and an extended scalp, neck, and shoulder massage to release tension. Every session ends with a gentle blow-dry so you leave looking polished and refreshed.

Who is the Head Spa best for?

This treatment is ideal for clients who are new to head spa and want a shorter introductory experience, anyone seeking deep relaxation and stress relief, and those looking to maintain a healthy scalp without addressing a specific concern. It's also wonderful for clients who carry tension in the head, neck, and shoulders — the extended massage component is one of the most calming experiences we offer. If your scalp is generally healthy and you want a treatment focused more on wellness than correction, this is the right starting point.

How is the Relaxing Head Spa different from a regular salon wash?

A salon wash cleans your hair. A head spa treats your scalp. The Relaxing Head Spa goes far beyond a typical wash in technique, time, and intention — using professional-grade products, specialized scalp massage techniques, and clinical tools to support scalp health while delivering a deeply restorative experience. A salon wash typically takes 5 to 10 minutes and focuses on the hair. The Relaxing Head Spa is a full hour focused on your scalp, your nervous system, and your overall wellbeing.

What's the difference between the Relaxing Head Spa and your other head spa treatments?

The Relaxing Head Spa (60 minutes) is our shortest, most introductory treatment — focused primarily on wellness, stress relief, and general scalp health.

Our Intensive Scalp Detox (90 minutes) is a deeper, more clinical treatment for clients with buildup, oiliness, or scalp congestion.

Our Anti-Hair Loss Treatment (90 minutes) is designed for clients experiencing thinning or shedding.

If you're new to head spa or simply want a calming reset, the Relaxing Head Spa is the perfect place to start.

Will it include blow-dry?

Yes. Every session ends with a gentle blow-dry so you leave looking polished and refreshed. Hair feels noticeably cleaner, lighter, and more voluminous after treatment — many clients comment that their hair has more body and movement than it has in a long time. No dripping wet exits, no towel-wrapped walks home.

How often should I get the Relaxing Head Spa?

For general wellness and scalp maintenance, every two to three weeks aligns well with your scalp's natural cycle and keeps things consistent. Many clients book it as a monthly self-care ritual — similar to a regular massage or facial — simply because it leaves them feeling reset, calm, and clear-headed. Your therapist can recommend a cadence based on your scalp analysis and lifestyle.

Is the Relaxing Head Spa suitable for all hair types, including curly hair?

Head spa is safe and beneficial for most hair types and textures — straight, wavy, curly (through Type 3A, 3B, and 3C), fine, thick, and chemically treated. Curly hair often benefits significantly from regular head spa treatments: buildup from styling products and oils can accumulate on the scalp over time, and deep cleansing helps restore a healthy environment without stripping the hair. Our therapists will adjust cleansing techniques, product selection, and drying methods to protect your curl pattern.

At this time, we're not equipped to properly care for Type 4 coily hair — we believe specialized textures deserve specialists, and we'd rather refer you to a stylist who can give your hair the dedicated expertise it deserves than offer a service that falls short.

Is it safe for color-treated or chemically processed hair?

Yes. Our products are safe for color-treated, chemically processed, and sensitized hair, and the deep cleansing can actually help color last longer by removing the buildup that dulls tone. Let your therapist know about your most recent color, keratin treatment, or chemical service so we can adjust products and techniques accordingly. If you've had a service within the past week, we may recommend waiting a few days before your first head spa.

Can I have a head spa if I have hair extensions?

In most cases, yes — but it depends on the type of extensions and how recently they were installed. Tape-in, sew-in, micro-link, and bonded extensions can typically be accommodated with adjusted techniques: we'll work carefully around the attachment points, use gentler product application near the bonds, and modify the massage and drying methods to protect both your extensions and your natural hair. Clip-in extensions should be removed before your appointment for the most thorough treatment.

For clients with extensions, we recommend booking a 90-minute treatment rather than to ensure we have enough time to work through your hair properly. Extensions add significant volume and density, which means cleansing, rinsing, and drying all take longer — and rushing any of these steps risks incomplete cleansing at the scalp, product residue trapped near the bonds, or unnecessary tension on the attachment points. The extra 30 minutes allows us to section your hair carefully, cleanse the scalp thoroughly without disturbing the bonds, and finish with a gentle, extension-safe blow-dry.

Please let us know about your extensions when booking so we can confirm the type, prepare appropriately, and recommend the right treatment for your needs. If you've had your extensions installed within the past week, we may recommend waiting a few days before your first head spa to allow the bonds to fully settle.

If you have any concerns or aren't sure whether your extensions are compatible, feel free to reach out before booking and we'll guide you.

Is it safe for sensitive scalps?

Absolutely. The Relaxing Head Spa is the gentlest of our three head spa protocols, making it especially well-suited to clients with sensitive, reactive, or itchy scalps. The scalp analysis at the start helps us identify sensitivity before we begin, and we'll customize products, pressure, and techniques throughout the session to your scalp's tolerance.

What should I do before my appointment?

Come as you are — you don't need to wash your hair beforehand, since we'll be doing a thorough cleansing. Avoid heavy styling products on the day of your appointment if possible, and let us know about any scalp conditions, recent chemical treatments, or medications when you arrive. If you have long or thick hair, we recommend arriving with it untied so it's ready for treatment.

Can I get a Relaxing Head Spa while pregnant?

Yes, and many of our clients love it during pregnancy — it's a deeply calming, non-invasive treatment with no heat or aggressive ingredients, and it's especially soothing for pregnancy-related tension headaches and stress. The Relaxing Head Spa is typically the best fit during pregnancy because of its gentle nature. Let your therapist know you're pregnant when booking so we can adjust positioning for comfort and select pregnancy-safe products.

Can I combine the Relaxing Head Spa with other treatments?

Yes, and it's one of our most popular booking patterns. Pairing the Relaxing Head Spa with a facial or body treatment creates a true head-to-toe reset, and the timing works well because both treatments are deeply restorative without being physically demanding. The 60-minute length pairs especially well with shorter facial appointments. Ask about our multi-service options when booking.

Are men welcome to book the Relaxing Head Spa?

Absolutely. The Relaxing Head Spa is for everyone — scalp health, stress relief, and tension release have no gender. We regularly serve male clients who book it for relaxation, scalp maintenance, or as a regular wellness ritual. If you're new to head spa, this is the ideal place to start.

How is this different from other head spas in the city?

A few things set our head spa apart. Every session begins with a scalp analysis using a microscope camera — most spas skip this step. We use professional-grade products and tools designed specifically for scalp health, not generic shampoos. We can customize the service upon your need, with the right products and tools. We finish every session with a proper blow-dry, so you leave looking polished. And we treat the head spa as a true wellness service — designed to relieve tension, support scalp health, and reset your nervous system, not just clean your hair.
