Q&A
What body treatments do you offer?
We offer three core body treatments, each designed for a different goal:
- Lymphatic Drainage (90 minutes) uses gentle, rhythmic techniques to stimulate the lymphatic system, reduce puffiness and fluid retention, support detoxification, and leave the body feeling lighter and more energized.
- Classic Swedish Massage (60 minutes) is a full-body relaxation massage using flowing, medium-pressure techniques to release tension, improve circulation, and restore a sense of calm.
- Deep Tissue Massage (60 minutes) uses focused, firm pressure to release chronic muscle tightness, target specific areas of pain or stiffness, and restore mobility.
If you're unsure which is right for you, our therapists can recommend the best option based on your goals and how your body is feeling that day.
What's the difference between Swedish massage and deep tissue massage?
Swedish massage uses long, flowing strokes with light-to-medium pressure, focused on overall relaxation, circulation, and stress relief — it's the classic full-body experience most people picture when they think of massage.
Deep tissue massage uses slower, firmer pressure to reach the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue, targeting areas of chronic tension, knots, or pain. Swedish is about releasing mental and physical stress; deep tissue is about resolving specific muscle issues. Many clients alternate between the two depending on what their body needs.
What is lymphatic drainage and how is it different from a regular massage?
Lymphatic drainage is a specialized therapeutic technique, not a traditional massage. It uses light, rhythmic strokes to encourage the movement of lymph fluid through the body's natural drainage system — helping reduce puffiness, support detoxification, and ease feelings of heaviness or bloating.
Unlike Swedish or deep tissue, there's no muscle manipulation or deep pressure; the technique is intentionally gentle because the lymphatic system sits just beneath the skin. Clients often book it for post-travel recovery, post-surgical healing (with medical clearance), hormonal bloating, or as a regular wellness ritual.
Who should book lymphatic drainage?
Lymphatic drainage is ideal if you're experiencing puffiness, water retention, bloating, sluggish digestion, post-travel swelling, or general fatigue. It's also popular pre- and post-event for a visibly sculpted, de-puffed appearance, and increasingly requested for post-surgical recovery (with surgeon clearance). Even without a specific concern, many clients book it as a monthly wellness ritual — it leaves the body feeling noticeably lighter and more energized.
Will deep tissue massage hurt?
Deep tissue should feel intense but never painful. The firm pressure can create a "good hurt" sensation as your therapist works through tight areas, but it shouldn't cross into actual pain. We communicate throughout the session and adjust pressure based on your feedback — your comfort and safety always come first. If you're new to deep tissue or have a higher pain sensitivity, let your therapist know and we'll start with moderate pressure and build from there.
How do I know which pressure level is right for me?
If you're looking to unwind, relieve stress, or simply enjoy a relaxing experience, Swedish massage is the right choice. If you have specific areas of tightness, chronic pain, postural issues, or recover from intense workouts, deep tissue is better suited. If you want therapeutic results without deep pressure — especially focused on reducing puffiness, supporting detoxification, or post-surgical recovery — lymphatic drainage is the answer. When in doubt, book Swedish for your first visit and discuss with your therapist whether deep tissue or lymphatic drainage would serve you better next time.
Are your body treatments safe during pregnancy?
Yes, with the right approach. Lymphatic drainage and modified Swedish massage can both be wonderful during pregnancy, and are often recommended for relieving swelling, improving circulation, and easing tension. We don't perform deep tissue massage during pregnancy, and we avoid all body treatments in the first trimester as a precaution. Let us know you're pregnant when booking so we can prepare the room with proper positioning and select the right protocol.
Can I combine a body treatment with a facial or head spa?
Absolutely — it's one of our most popular booking patterns. A facial or head spa paired with a massage or lymphatic drainage creates a true head-to-toe reset, and the services complement each other beautifully. Ask about our multi-service options when booking, or share your goals and we'll build a plan that fits.
I have a specific injury or medical condition. Can I still book?
In most cases, yes — but please let us know during booking so we can assess whether your situation is a good fit and tailor the session safely. Conditions like recent surgery, blood clots, severe cardiovascular issues, certain skin conditions, or active infections may require medical clearance or make certain treatments inadvisable. We'll always err on the side of safety and recommend the best approach for your body.
Are all your massage therapists female?
Yes, all of our massage therapists are female. Many of our clients specifically prefer a female therapist for comfort and peace of mind, and we've built our team accordingly. If you have a preferred therapist you've worked with before, you're welcome to request them when booking — we'll do our best to accommodate based on availability.
